We are now more than halfway through this year's gathering of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Over the past days, representatives of Indigenous Peoples from around the world have gathered at the UN headquarters in New York City to address the theme of development with culture and identity.
Last Friday, the MADRE sister organization FIMI--the International Indigenous Women's Fund--held an event to highlight the role of Indigenous women as active agents for development. This event featured Indigenous women who have worked for years to advance the well-being and cultural integrity of their communities.
