Since returning from Haiti a couple of weeks ago, I have been eager to share some of the video that we captured while we were there. So as not to keep our blog readers waiting, I have pulled together this short video, providing just a very brief glimpse of the incredible work we saw our partners engaged in.
Keep an eye on this blog for more video as it becomes available!
Love the video Diana! It's empowering!:-)
Is establishing female-only IDC camps an interim option for women & girls without male protection? I know the people of Haiti need permanent homes, but just thinking of immediate ways to provide relief & support.

Hi Luckie, thank you for your comment. Our sister organization KOFAVIV (featured in the video above) has been implementing their own solutions in the camps to try to fill the gap in security, such as distributing whistles and flashlights to women and organizing community watch groups. In doing so, they have provided much-needed essential support. Even in the spaces that women have carved out for themselves, in their homes and community gathering spaces, the problem of a lack of security persists. This is why KOFAVIV has been working with MADRE support to demand accountability from their government and from the UN and to demand that lighting and security be provided immediately in the camps.
Thanks again for your comment!
